Matthew McCollum entered the building trades at the early age of 17. He worked his way up thru the ranks, mastering the processes of residential and commercial construction. The Residential homes Matt worked on were in the popular Catamount community as a subcontractor for Mountain Ridge Development.
He paid his way through college and studied engineering while working part-time in the commercial construction industry. The projects he worked on were Don Pablo’s restaurant 28th street and the Thornapple Evangelical Church on Cascade road. Later, he became a die designer for the tool and die industry, working with engineers from GM, Ford, and the local furniture industries at Datum Industries.
After several handyman projects and small jobs Matt started Forest Hills Construction in 2001. His focus soon turned to Residential homes. In 2004 Forest Hills Homes LLC was set up to handle the demand for new home construction. Since then he has built several homes on spec and custom including an executive 5,900 sq. ft. home in Manchester Hills.
Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife Jaime McCollum and their five children Cody, Cassidy, Carsten, Cameron and Cayleigh. Three of the kids are attending the Forest Hills Northern school district. Their family has lived in Forest Hills since 1999. Matt has built three homes during that time for the family. Jaime spends time shuttling off Cody to play GRAHA Hockey and taking care of the kids. Jaime is also a part time Dental Hygienist for Muscott and Muscott family Dentists. Matt spends his summer weekends fishing with the boys.
